Account Director / Vice President

Client mix: This role will be primarily focused on our life sciences portfolio, specifically biotech and pharma, but there is the possibility of exposure to the tech side of our work too.


 

Each day will be different, but as an Account Director / Vice President at Torch, you will:

 

  • Actively manage 2-4 client accounts as well as additional projects on an as-needed basis

  • Maintain strong relationships with scientific, technology, and business journalists on behalf of clients and the firm

  • Create a wide range of communications materials including targeted outreach lists, press kits, social media systems and content, and individualized media pitches

  • Develop personal expertise in areas of science and technology relevant to our clients (for example, health IT, pharma, biotech) and spread that fluency within the PR team

  • Apply your knowledge of the media landscape and advances in the life sciences sector towards client projects

  • Maintain work flows and advise clients on communications strategy

  • Create strategic communications programs across a wide range of client and program types

  • Assist junior staff with professional development

 

If you like what we’re saying, here’s what we’re looking for:

 

  • Exceptional communication skills

  • At least seven years of experience (typically more) in an agency setting actively managing multiple client accounts

  • Existing relationships with reporters and clients in life science, technology or business sectors

  • Experience developing strategic communications programs across multiple media platforms

  • Track record of attracting and establishing new client relationships

  • Demonstrable leadership and critical thinking skills

  • Preference will be given to candidates located in Boston, New York, or San Francisco, but we would be willing to consider a fully remote role for the right candidate
