The Role


Torch enables the developers of some of the world’s most impressive new technologies to achieve their unique business objectives by reaching the right audiences at the right time with efficiency and clarity. Our Account Directors are key to the evolution of our business -- they manage multiple client relationships, participate in (and often drive) new business initiatives, and help with the professional development of our entire team.


Working directly with company founders and overseeing team members, Account Directors are responsible for maintaining client accounts and successfully executing critical projects. Each day will be different, but core activities will include:


  • Actively manage 2-4 client accounts as well as additional projects on an as-needed basis

  • Maintain strong relationships with technology, business and scientific journalists on behalf of clients and the firm

  • Create a wide range of communications materials including targeted outreach lists, press kits, social media systems and content, and individualized media pitches

  • Develop personal expertise in areas of science and technology relevant to our clients (for example, health IT, fintech, artificial intelligence, energy) and spread that fluency within the PR team

  • Apply your knowledge of the media landscape and advances in the tech sector towards client projects

  • Maintain work flows and advise clients on communications strategy

  • Create strategic communications programs across a wide range of client and program types

  • Assist junior staff with professional development




  • Exceptional communication skills

  • At least seven years of experience (typically more) in an agency setting actively managing multiple client accounts

  • Existing relationships with reporters and clients in technology, business or life science sectors

  • Experience developing strategic communications programs across multiple media platforms

  • Track record of attracting and establishing new client relationships

  • Demonstrable leadership and critical thinking skills
