Account Coordinator

Boston or Charleston (remote eligible)

Careers: CV

Torch Communications is a specialized public relations agency serving advanced technology and healthcare companies. Our clients are diverse, including cutting-edge startups, growth-stage organizations, and long-standing industry leaders. But they all share one common element: the drive to make the world a better place through true scientific and technological innovation.

Our team has deep experience at some of the world’s top public relations agencies, bringing that expertise to a more flexible, client-friendly, “high-touch” boutique service model. Founders are directly involved with client management, helping all levels of the team rapidly advance their skills. And our entire team – from interns to senior partners – weighs in on new client areas to explore and new capabilities to enhance our service offering.

Client mix: This role will be primarily focused on our life sciences portfolio, with the potential to support select technology clients as needed.

The Role

Torch enables the developers of some of the world’s most impressive new technologies to achieve their unique business objectives by reaching the right audiences at the right time with efficiency and clarity. Our Account Coordinators play a critical role in helping maintain productive relationships with clients, the media, and critical institutions and advocates. The current position is on our Boston team, which operates with a hybrid model that includes both home- and office-based work each week.

As an Account Coordinator at Torch you will:

  • Serve as a key member of 2-4 account teams, getting to know those clients inside and out: their business objectives, the competitive and media landscapes they operate in, what keeps them up at night, and how we can help.

  • Perform a broad range of PR tasks, such as: spearheading industry and media research, writing snappy pitches to capture reporters’ attention, communicating with press, writing client-facing memos, plans, and other documents, brainstorming PR strategy, and so much more.

  • Help keep our agency a well-run, client-pleasin’ machine while soaking up the ins and outs of client management: performing organizational and administrative tasks as necessary, including taking notes, building account trackers, and making sure nothing gets lost in the shuffle.

  • Be challenged by the unpredictable and intensely interesting nature of our business – albeit in a supportive environment where no question goes unanswered, dissenting viewpoints are welcome, and where nothing’s done that way “just because it’s always been.”

Requirements:

  • Some level of exposure to the fundamentals of PR, journalism, or client service e.g., through coursework, work experience, volunteering, or internships

  • A highly inquisitive mind, with a passion for healthcare, science, start-ups, tech, and the like

  • Solid written and verbal communications skills that we can mold into PR excellence

  • The flexibility to wear multiple hats in a growing organization

  • Organization and efficiency, with a sharp eye for detail

  • Experience expressing ideas in 280 characters or fewer

Torch offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including paid time off, 401(k) and charitable contribution matching, a volunteer program, and more – including our own unique holiday. We participate in the Federal E-Verify program to confirm employment eligibility. We are an Equal-Opportunity Employer with teams in Boston, New York, and San Francisco.
