Michael Solana is a communications professional and writer with a background in content development and program management. He comes to Torch from The Penguin Group (U.S.A.) where he acquired and edited non-fiction in the fields of technology, politics, philosophy, and humor, including David Thorne’s New York Times Bestselling The Internet is a Playground. He’s worked closely with authors, designers, and publicists on everything from scouting new talent and developing projects to designing jackets, crafting copy, and marketing.
With a lifelong interest in the transformative power of ideas and narrative’s capacity to carry them, he especially enjoys distilling larger, complex concepts into potent, broadly accessible forms. In this vein, he strives to create exciting, purpose-driven content.
His interests range from futurism and radical entrepreneurship to literature, education, and space – how to get there, how to live there, and how to make it affordable. He graduated from Boston University with high honors and independent concentrations in English, History, and Film, with a focus on the evolution of storytelling in the Twentieth Century and its impact on U.S. political discourse.
He has an enormous and unruly sheepdog named Darwin who often breaks things and steals food from the table but who he nonetheless loves.
